3 Glens, the warm version.

6956536589_44bbd5f35c_kNext up is the 3 Glens ride, a fun wander through Anne Arundel, Prince Georges, Montgomery and Howard counties.  This will be a break from the hard climbing and longer distances of the last two Rambles. At less than 6,000ft of climbing, 3 Glens is a good candidate for an “average fitness” century rider. It’s got a great lunch stop too. There are two starts on this one: Carroll Park for 99 miles and BWI/Dixon for 93 miles.

Date: Sunday, August 4th
1st Start: Carroll Park  Time: 7:50AM meet up. 8AM push off
2nd Start: BWI/Dixon Observation Park   Time 9AM
Map/Metric/GPS for long ver: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/958129
Cue for long ver: 3GlenCue
Cue for BWI start version: BWI_3GlenCue

Whatcha think?

Legs are a bit sore after this one. Great ride at a fast (for me) clip. Thanks for organizing, Bob. Mike, Thanks again for the hospitality. A few pictures… http://www.flickr.com/photos/89177255@N05/sets/72157634944911335/

    Hey Bob,
Thanks for the fun & sometimes challenging ride today.
Have you heard about this ? http://vimeo.com/69059000
It looks like a lot of fun! How bout a Rando Bob Roubaix ????????????

ps, Nigel, forgot to ask, where was Jeff ‘monster pulls’ Adler today?

Okay, y’all. Ten Oaks is clear and the original cue sheets are correct. They must have pulled the road closure signs off the road yesterday. For those who use Garmins, the maps on RwGPS are changed back and are correct. If you have any questions, ask. I will bring a few cue sheets for both starts. Will see ya tomorrow. -B

    GOOD LUCK, MIKE!
    GOOD LUCK, DAVE!

Tom is correct, 10 Oaks rd. between Highland and Linthicum is not passable for bikes. There is an easy detour that adds less than 1 mile. The route maps on Ride w/GPS are corrected. I will bring adjusted cue sheets to the start. See ya Sunday. -B

Hey thanks for the heads up, Tom.

    Bob:

have you checked with Bike Howard cty: if Ten oaks rd is open at Linden church? (64 mile mark) Last I knew it was closed for construction. email: President@bikehoco.org

Sorry, Mike. If it makes you feel any worse, Jack Anderson rode the last version of 3 Glens. He was bucking headwinds off the front for most of the ride. Near the end of the ride, he admitted having run a full marathon the day before. “Running uses a different muscle set” was his explanation. Love it. (BTW he had two beers at lunch)

  9. Mike H says:

Ha, ha. I’ll get some beer and you guys can have an additional stop at the 92 mile mark as I put my feet up for the day.
